Love your city

Hiding in the Gem State is an Instagram account a close friend of mine created that showcases some of the great locations within the Treasure Valley and Idaho that a lot of people may not even know about. I love how it cultivates the culture of being a tourist within your own city, and falling in love with what is already around you. I've met so many people who feel like the grass is always greener in another city, and even I have fallen victim to the thought of, "I wish I lived in Seattle."

When another friend invited Hailie and me to wander around Edwards Greenhouse, I had no clue what or where she was talking about. As we pulled away from her home off Harrison Blvd, we drove further down Hill Rd. than I'd ever been in the 15 years I've lived in Boise. We turned left into a long driveway, and 600 ft later I realized what my afternoon would be. Hours of walking around in an oxygen rich heaven.

Does this have anything to do with cutting hair? No. What does it have to do with The Barber Story? Nothing. Sometimes, the only requirement is the discovery of something new and beauty in the space you occupy.

My back hurts from ducking under all the hanging plants. Short girls don't have that problem.
